[TRNSYS-users] Wall thickness in TRNBUILD

Volodymyr,

This is a common issue with energy modeling tools and I don't think
that there is a "right" answer. Typically I try to draw the building
using the mid point of the walls. It means that the zone volumes will be
a little on the big side and that the thermal loss area will be a little
bit on the large side. For buildings with very thick walls, that can
become a problem but there are challenges in creating transfer functions
for thick walls anyway. Quite a long time ago I did a building using the
inside dimensions and then again with the outside dimensions. Annually
the energy use was nearly identical between the two; certainly it was
well within the other uncertainties of the modeling assumptions.

kind regards,

  David
