Daniel,
I don't think that modifying the tolerances is going to help; it will
more likely lead to convergence problems. You could consider increasing
the timestep. The PV models are all quasi steady state models and so
don't have any capacitance effects in them. Unless you are doing some
fancy controls that require a short tiemstep, you could consider making
it longer.
I suspect that almost all of the simulation time is in the
communication back and forth between Excel and TRNSYS. If you look at
the *.lst file produced when the simulation runs you should find a
breakdown of how much time was spent in each components.
