[TRNSYS-users] "Optional Properties of Shading Devices"

Hallo!
 
In the TRNSYS-Handbook in Cap. 6.2.4.3.2. is explained how to define the thermal resistance of an internal or external blind there's the addition:
"The properties entered for the shading devices are effective only if a shading device is actually defined for the window"

Now my question is: When exactly is a shading defined?
If the Checkbox "internal/external shading factor" is checked or if the value of the shading factor is bigger than "0"?
