Can a Room renounce people on their own, without the
need for an agent?
I'd think they could, else how could they come out of
a dormant phase. How does that work, though?
Can each Room have to hunt and eat its own
renunciates? If they could, why have agents? (Aside
from story potential.)
Would there be a generic self-opening entrance to the
House of Renunciation, with the victim falling into
whatever Room is best suited for them? This gives a
distinct advantage to Rooms with agents, since they
don't have to just wait for the House to pass them a
hand-out. It also explains why Rooms can go dormant
for extended periods.
However, like all things in this game, I guess logic
isn't really necessary. They can go just dormant,
stop renouncing people for their own inscrutable
reasons. Until they start up again, following an
equally-arbitrary trigger.
