There are the Paradigm skills that allow characters to
shrug off sanity checks.

If you roll your Mind Stat under the [specific]
Paradigm skill, the [specific] gauge-notch is ignored.

I'd also be hesitant to allow a character a Resist
Insanity skill, even if it's like personal
psychotherapy because it seems many many the
psychological fields suffer from the "can't see their
own noses" issue with self-therapy.

You could always have another character with a
pop-psych or a related therapy skill to assist the
traumatised character (check it up in the rule book).
