Just my 2 cents.  Mind implies more than intelligence, wisdom, reasoning or 
whatever.  It also implies mental stability.  As someone who has a great 
amount of experience with both the mentally ill and actors (who walk a fine 
line) let me say that the "insane" are not stupid as a general rule.  Many 
whom I've had contact with are quite intelligent and a number are those I 
would call gifted.  The extent of their intelligence is a trap for these 
few.  They get completely caught up in convoluted thinking and can't see 
beyond the trap they have laid for themselves.  So simple examples such as 
smart guy and dumb guy just don't cut it.
