[UA] Madness

Well, I noticed that Paradigm Skills are far more useful for those with weak
minds. In fact, their value is in reverse proportion to the Mind stat,
since it's only useful after a failed stress check.

I find that fitting, that weak minds get more from subscribing to a paradigm
than more circumspect thinkers. Perhaps it ties in with the way they are
are more easily led. Granted, it only help against the one Stress, so it's
more worthwhile to dump your XP into Mind, but at least it's something.

Other than that, I like the way UA has characters become adjusted to the
depravity level of the game, and that they get damaged by the process.
Plus, there's always therapy... they put made rules for that in the book for
a reason, you know.

As a side note, I'd rule that Magick effects and Channels that artificially
trigger stress checks do not affect the madness meters, just make you roll
to avoid freaking out. That should lower the paranoia about facing down the
nutter-makers.

What about the paradigm skills, that allow you to reroll or something like
that.

Other than that, the easiest solution seems to make people with high mind
roll more frequently, not harder. The idiot doesn't have to roll because
he doesn't have the brains to come to the horrifying conclusion ('Sure,
Cthulu is going to devour the world, but we're in America.'). So, instead
of giving madness checks a level, give them a formula where x equals the
tens place of the mind stat. Or, more simply than that, point only to
people with the mind stats to comprehend for certin rolls.
