This is cool also. You can add the questions to character questionaires that are used for players to flesh out their characters. Among the irrelevant questions about the character's background the players wouldn't notice a few well placed ones tuned to see what their particular style of magic is. If you need a questionaire (is the spelling right?) I'll be happy to provide one.
