If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, traditional crucifixtion in
the Roman era was to create an american football field goal post like
"cross" and hang the criminal by his left arm and leg from the two uprights.
I know this was a common form in ancient times but I can't remember
perfectly if it was a Roman method. It may explain the different opnions in
translation.
