Actually, now that you mentiot it, there's a scene in the book Aegypt
by John Crowley where John Dee and Edward Kelly take the photograph of
a young Shakespeare.  So there could already exist a connection there. 
(The book as a whole isn't bad as UA inspiration IIRC).
