That name alone makes it a more UAable group.  What's
more, Puglia is the heel-end of the "boot" of Italy,
right?  So maybe they're symbolically more repressive,
as reflected by their brutalism?

Okay, that's a cheap shot, but, what little I know and
was able to look up on the region makes it neat UA
setting.  Like the Village in the Prisoner, the area
is a hodge-podge of archetectural styles.  Byzantine
and Moorish influences are always mentioned and I
understand quite a few passing armies have left their
stamp.  Also, there was a big earthquake in the 18th
century which I seem to recall as being important.
