A very important point to make.

One thing that appealed to me about UA is that
characters tend to have a "down-and-out" quality, but
that's not really a selling point for most people.  It
can be if players are a little tired of always playing
the big and powerful types or if they've just been
disgusted by a favorite sci fi programme.  If not, I
just use the backstreet violence and dirty pleasures
involved in magic to sell it to people.
