[UA] Astrology

Here's an idea that I've been thinking about for a little while.

Astrological Hunches in UA

One method for defining a character's personality in Unknown Armies is by
assigning her a star sign. Whilst astrology may or may not be a science of
predicting the ties of causality between the Statosphere and human lives, it
is likely that many characters in the Occult Underground check their stars
periodically - for guidance, amusement, or simply out of habit.

One of the players needs to bring a current newspaper to the game - one that
contains a daily astrology column. Before or during the game, a player may
like to check his stars - although he should read the predictions for his
character's sign, and not his own. This reflects the likelihood that his
character would be interested in such things, and remember to read his stars
in some newspaper or magazine.

At some time during the game, a situation may arise that seems to have been
described (although vaguely) in the astrology column. Characters who have
read these predictions may recognise such a situation, and possibly benefit
from the advice given in the column. Of course, astrology columns are
notoriously general, so there is no guarantee that this advice will actually
be helpful!

In game terms, if a player believes that a situation in the game was
"predicted" by her character's stars, she can ask the GM for a hunch. The GM
is not obliged to give the player a hunch, however, and may disagree that
the astrology column is relevent to the current situation. Regardless of
whether the GM allows the player to roll a hunch or not, the player can only
ask once per game session.

Naturally, a character who dislikes astrology or who does not know her star
sign cannot gain a hunch in this way. Such a character would doubtlessly
point out that reading the stars is no guarantee of good luck anyway, and be
content with her modern worldview. The rest of us don't necessarily believe
in astrology, but we usually check our stars anyway...
