I was thinking of a new style of magic- that connected with music...
I mean magic has allways been thought to have some magic about it, magic can
alter ones moods, alledley charm animals, and all through mythology there
are magic drums trumpets etc... what do you think?
It could have a similar charge system to that of the clockworkers, that is
it takes you one day to compose a minor "composition"
say a week and a meaning sacrifice of some kind: a pet you have had for
several months, some piece of memorabilia you have treasured from childhood,
a large quantity of money... or perhaps a day and some blood, or a day and
the burning of a famous piece of music/ famous instrument/ the baton of a
famous composer to create a significant composition
Finally for major spells you could have to spend months writting it, before
playing it with a full orchestra and a human sacrifice?
You would cast it by playing the piece, simple, and the effects would be to
do with manipulation or summoning perhaps? The blasts could be say "The
tugging of the heart" where the usual sadness sometimes assosiated with
beautiful music becomes an actual pain... and the major is "the wrenching of
the heart" maybe? Were the agony is excrutiating, perhaps fatal...
Conversely the music could make you happy, with varying degrees for
different levels, loyal, or make people follow you pied piper-esque?
Maybe each adept would have his own instrument and his taboo would be to
play anything other than it, or to allow it to come to harm, something like
that
Sorry, just a hotch potch of ideas, I thought I would see what you think
