In "One Shots" we meet the Comte's daughter Joy, along with his other
daughters/wives -- the Sorrows. But there's nothing to say he doesn't step
out on them from time to time. Shit, if Sorrow was your wife, wouldn't YOU?
My take would be that it takes a fairly exceptional woman to attract the
Comte's attention, but that any offspring would be normal -- or, as normal
as anyone linked to the Comte could be. On the other hand, he's pretty
savvy about the whole "blood/offspring" link, so I'd guess he's real, REAL
careful about contraception these days.
In fact, just this moment I've got the inspiration that as a younger man
(say, sometime around the Bronze Age) he might have raised a gaggle of
mortal kids and taught them some of his secrets in order to use them as his
agents -- loyal kids to help him keep the world in line. But he doesn't do
that any more. Watching his children age away into death was just too
hard, even for his immortal heart. Or perhaps one of them betrayed him and
had to be killed...

Reality is when you're peeking through a keyhole, and someone comes up
behind you and kicks you in the balls.
