i think it's pretty much just liquid. it surrounds the baby in the womb and
protects it from knocks and bumps. when a pregnant woman's "water breaks"
before birth it's the amniotic sac around the baby rupturing, which causes
the fluid to leak out. it's normally clear but i think it can come in other
varieties too (the usual "inside bodies" one i think; red, green and
yellow).

i'd say for ritual purposes it would be some sort of protective measure.
heroin's made out of seeds, so maybe there could be some sort of seed=baby,
fluid=baby protection type of thing going on. by adding the fluid the junky
guarantees that it won't damage their health.
