I read from somewhere that shooting heroin under your skin (or in the muscles, or what?) instead of the vein makes you feel like returning to the womb.

Could this be some perverse drug, that's supposed to keep some...thing inside you satisfied? But what gave birth to it? What does it do? And, what does it eat if it doesn't get that specific drug?

Or perhaps it *is* a protective substance, but with the cost of putting you into deep, euphoric sleep. So you'd get to sleep in a coffin, or something like that, but you'd be protected.  Dull recycling of old myths.
