Even better: have a hat box show up in the room where
the player last saw Chris.  A sealed hat box ala
"Night Must Fall" -or, better yet, a sealed Hat Box. 
They only find Chris' mangled corpse.

Then, John Goodman bursts in from next door and starts
going on about the pressures of "real life."
