oh well I really love this list even though I rarely
get to write to it ... (I had a laughing fit over the
weird gamer moments last week)

You sent me some nice ideas .... actually I forgot
to mention that _I_ knew who Chris was supposed
to be ... but I like the idea of having her turn up
dead and the 'box' thing is quite well _great_
I will mix them together ... though I intent to use
the 'box' in a very very different way than intended
in the above suggestion.

One of my major hmmm GMC groups is a cabal of a larger
cult. One of the items that the cult needs for a major ritual
they are planning is one of the 99 vessels of Solomon.
All I know from the bible is that they existed and then
got lost or so? 

To some very very select people it is known that one of
those vessels was found in [undecided maybe Persia ->
major GMC from there] in the year 1977. It was damaged
and whatever was in it escaped .... well 3 out of 4 of
my players were born in 1977 and so am I and so are lots
of the younger recruits of said cult. And most of those
people were born about a maximum of 50km apart ...

So maybe I introduce the empty vessel  (a small inconspicuous
wooden box) in a few flashbacks for that player, which replace 
the constant headaches.
I will use the 'Chris is dead' idea to generate
some more problems for him ... oh oh ... that is very very nice
and so kind of you people here to serve as inspiration
for my campaign =)
