you could combine this a bit with the delta green background. a serial
killer could believe that people are being possessed by evil spirits. he may
actually know that demons exist, or he might just be a whacko, or both. so
he goes round drilling into possessed people's heads in order to "save"
them. the fact that they invariably die is a sad side effect but it's okay
as he thinks they're going to heaven anyway.
