Hey, and on second thought, I think Bluff Creek qualifies--its the 
birthplace of Bigfoot for crying-out loud.  If you read anything--*anything* 
on the old stink-a-potumass it mentions Bluff Creek.  Sure, its not Dealy 
Plaza or the US Congress (that place has to be handing them out left and 
right), but I bet it generates a siggie every few months or so.  I can't 
think of any *historically* more famous location in Northern Cali.  You've 
got the Redwoods, and you got Mt Shasta, but whatever happened there?
