I think that one of the motifs of Unbreakable was that
there was no direct action, as much as possible. 
There was a heavy, slow atmosphere to the movie, that
demanded such things as heavy action, train wrecks,
etc. not actually be shown.  The greatest struggle of
the movie, after all, was in the swimming pool...it
was a very personal movie, not an action flick.
