[UA] Train Wreck

I think that one of the motifs of Unbreakable was that
there was no direct action, as much as possible.
There was a heavy, slow atmosphere to the movie, that
demanded such things as heavy action, train wrecks,
etc. not actually be shown. The greatest struggle of
the movie, after all, was in the swimming pool...it
was a very personal movie, not an action flick.
Damn you people and your arguments. Trains wrecks are what American cinema
is all about. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the 'artie' flick much more than
I enjoy your typical Shwarzenegger fare (I got the whole theater to myself
when I went and saw The Madness of King George, for example) , but I don't
get America's fascination with M. Night Shamalayan. Sure, they're both
decent movies, but much slower and introspective than I figure most
American moviegoers would care for. The twist endings aren't bad, but you
can tell there are deliberate attempts to hold back information from the
audience in order for the twist to work. Maybe it's just my dissatisfaction
with the filmmaker that makes me demand a train wreck.
ObUA: Did this even relate to UA to begin with?
