[UA] UA vampires

This is a thought I had right before I joined the list, then completely
forgot about (typical of me, trust me).

I was thinking of a variant explanation for vampires that would fit into the
UA universe. I like the purely biological version. But I was thinking about
something that is more of a curse.

Here's the basic skeleton of the idea. Becoming a vampire gives you at least
some of the traditional powers, the most important one being technical
immortality. The vampire stops aging and will never die from disease or old
age. There's a big drawback though: the universe thinks you are dead. And
when reality itself thinks you are dead, you might as well be. No matter
what you try to do, how you try to have any real effect on the world, you
can't. As far as the universe is concerned, dead men don't matter. And
that's the reason they don't make reflections. They also can't operate
complex machinery or electronics and people do their damnedest to ignore
their presence on the street. If they make an effort to be seen and interact
with people, they can do it, but synchronicity does everything possible to
keep the vampire's actions from having any noticable effect on the world.
For this reason, most vampires don't last all that long. They eventually go
mad from failed Isolation checks and commit suicide. Before they go,
however, they make sure to offer the deal to anyone whom they think would go
for it. Many times this is just a desperate attempt to gain a companion that
won't forget about them within minutes.

So that's it in a nutshell. I figure that way it's really a curse to be a
vampire. Also, it means the Comte never has to really worry about being the
only immortal. These poor bastards can't even get their names in the
obituary.

Feel free to comment on this or can it altogether. Thanks.
