I think that there's a difference between conscious and unconscious channels
too.

For the Architect, we decided that the first channel (called Blueprints)
means that if he rolls under his Avatar skill, the character can 'know' the
layout of the building he's in - service ducts, lift shafts, secret doors
and so on. That's an unconscious skill, because sometimes he just 'knows'.

The second channel is "I'd build it like this ..." which means that on a
successful roll under Avatar, the character can decide that if he'd designed
the building in question, there would be a door connecting these two rooms
behind that curtain, and there is. It has to be some bit of the building
he's not seen before, (probably because if he's seen it, the wave function
has collapsed already, :-) and it therefore needs a successful use of his
first channel to do so.

That _could_ be either a conscious or unconsious skill, depending on
interpretation.

His third channel (which the character doesn't have yet) would allow him to
do that consciously - in a locked room, he can create a door in the opposite
wall and just walk away. That _has_ to be conscious, because the door
_wasn't_ there before (The IC Avatar justification is that someone
channelling the Architect at this level knows _better_ what the building
design should have incorporated than the original designer, and therefore
can impose their design choices on reality.

We haven't decided other channels yet.

Anyway - with a conscious channel, I'd say you've got to be consciously
channelling. Make sense?

John
