I'm sorry, that screenplay was a work of genius! Anything that has Morpheus
captured by "giant electromagnets under New York" or includes dialog like
"Tremble before power of the Sandman, the Lord of Dreams!" has to be
worthwhile on some level. :-)

Second-last scene: Some dramatic location, probably in New York (the whole
movie has to take place in New York, because all movies like this take place
in New York).
Daphne Lee: "So you're going to Ascend as the Good Guy then?"
Alex: "Yep".
*vanishes into the ether. Cut to a quick montage of scenes of happiness and
world peace. The last image in the montage is a hospital.
Final Scene: Interior hospital. Dirk Allen is lying on a bed, dying.
Monitoring equipment is going beep beep beep.
*Enter the Freak. Accompanied by touching music, the Freak opens Allen's
shirt and pushes her hand through his skin. His liver heals. Allen opens his
eyes.*
Allen: I love you, you Beautiful Freak.
*Music rises to a crescendo so sweet it makes your teeth rot. Fade to
credits.*
Optionally, even happier ending: The Freak turns out to be Dirk's missing
first wife.
