The Compte is a man outside of time. His perception of the universe without the overarching framework of the passage of time creates an impenetrable veil around his motives. He may or may not have rules. He may or may not have power. Imagine the movie Groundhog Day encompassing all of
known time. (Imagine Bill Murray as the Compte.) Subtle variations, wild divergences--it would all be the same to him. Try running your players through a cosmological bleedthrough, where the reality of a prior cosmos intrudes onto theirs.Does the Compte have the power to blast someone's
legs into dust, or does he scamper about, putting roller-skates where he knows someone will walk?
