That's my feeling. I think that individuals in the government who are in 
the know will be very dangerous, as they can marshall immense resources, 
IF THEY ARE CAREFUL, no matter what level of gov't or what their personal 
power in the OU. A page or lobbyist can sway opinion in the legislative 
body if they can convince the right people, and an FBI agent can file 
reports and cases to further their own personal agenda. The thought of 
what a section head in the NSA can do is downright chilling...

The governments in my world are essentially vast pools of exploitable 
resources to the OU. The problem, as someone noted in another post, is 
that adepts and avatars are not the most... normal people in the world. 
It takes some doing to get into a situation where you can tap this 
resource effectively. Let's face it, there's very little chance that 
someone full of studs, piercings, and tattoos is going to become a 
trusted presidential advisor. There is a lot of precedents set for 
dipsomancers, though, and we won't even get into the pornomancer 
stranglehold on the current US government.

Up here in Canada, our PM just punches people. ;->
