That's how I'd run it. If the government clued in, any adept who committed
a crime would be in deep shit fast. Of course, there may be the odd FBI
agent who spends more time chasing paranormal rumors than paying attention
to his stunningly attractive partner, here and there.
I've been kicking around the idea that the Mafia is marginally aware of the
occult underground, and has a standing policy of greasing any adept it runs
across, then cutting off the two middle fingers on the corpse's left hand
as a warning to others. Sure, some families have tried using adepts to
further their interests, but it never works. Adepts are too unreliable,
too weird, too unpredictable. Nice guys sometimes, but it's better to kill
them.
