[TRNSYS-users] Type 14 Forcing Function Plugin Crash

Prasanth,

I have seen this behavior a few other times but do not have a solution
that has worked in all cases.

First, please make sure that TRNSYS is not installed in either the
\Program Files\ or \Program Files (x86) directories. These directories
have very strict read/write permission issues that can cause all kinds
of problems with TRNSYS because TRNSYS has to create output files.

Sometimes the problem with the Type14 plugin has to do with a particular
project (*.tpf file) and does not occur if you drag a Type14 component
into another project. Sometimes the problem has to do with screen
resolution. If you have a very high resolution screen, try turning the
resolution down a bit. Other times, there seems to be an incompatibility
between the plugin and Windows on particular computers. If you have
access to another computer, you might try to launch the plugin there.

If none of the above suggestions make a difference then the workaround
is to simply enter the parameter values directly into the proforma
instead of using the plugin. For complex schedules, it may be preferable
to use either one of the Types in the TESS Applications library or to
put the schedule in an external file and use Type9 to read it.

kind regards,

  David
