[TRNSYS-users] Pump option for fluid circulation

 Dear Jeff
I was reading a paper. In the paper, the authors claimed a conclusion based on TRNSYS simulation. In the paper as I sent you the Figs, there is no pump for water circulation in the closed circuit. I wonder if it is possible to set a flow rate in a closed loop circuit without having pump using valve options instead, at least in TRNSYS 16. Not sure about the latest TRNSYS.

 Arian,
You could set the input of one of the valves to set the flow rate for your system but you’ll need to be extremely careful.  Make sure you plot the flow rates around the loop to ensure you’ve got everything set correctly.  Can I ask why you’re not considering using a pump model?

Hi,
Is it possible to simulate a closed circuit without having pump to circulate a fluid in the circuit using some valve options instead (For instance, setting mass flow rate as the input or parameter of some kind of valves) ? Please have a look at these two Figures to see whether the system on the right hand side is working practically or not. Thank you so much for your attention.

Arian
