[TRNSYS-users] TMY Weather Data File

Behrang,
Each data file format (whether it is *.epw, *.tm2, *.tm3, etc.) has
its own set of data fields (raw data values). Two common fields are the
global horizontal radiation (beam + sky diffuse radiation falling on a
horizontal surface) and direct normal solar radiation (beam radiation
incident on a surface that is always normal to the beam radiation
vector). *.epw files are EnergyPlus format weather files. The
definitions of their fields can be found in the EnergyPlus documentation
set. The definition for the TMY2 fields can be found in a document at:
http://rredc.nrel.gov/solar/pubs/tmy2/.

TRNSYS processes the raw data from the file and outputs various solar
radiation quantities that can be used as the inputs to other components.
The definition of those outputs can be found either in the proforma of
the weather reader/processor component (likely Type15) or in the
appropriate section of the 04-MathematicalReference manual.
regards,
  David
