[TRNSYS-users] Negative gains

Ken,
The easiest way that I have found to do this is to define the gain as an
INPUT instead of as a constant value or a schedule. You can either take
the convective and radiative power as inputs or you can set the
radiative and convective powers to constant values that represent the
fraction of the gain that is convective and radiative (for example, if
your cooling is 90% radiative and 10% convective, set the convective
power to 0.1 and the radiative power to 0.9). Then you set the scale of
the gain as an input. This number will then be the total cooling of your
open case, will be passed to Type56 as a single value, and will be
broken up into its convective and radiative parts. Note that in the
above example, I assumed that the gain is 100% sensible, which is
probably not the case. You can add in a dehumidifying effect as well by
passing a negative latent gain to the space using another INPUT.
Kind regards,
David
