Dear Xavier,
To include type 34 you should do the following:
- For each type of overhang (horizontal) or wingwall (vertical) you should include a seperate type 34 in your TRNSYS studio model. (For example, for all windows facing south and having a 1 m overhang you create one type 34 with the correct parameters (see documentation)
- In your TRNbuild model you create a new orientation, for example SOUTH_OVERH
- For the windows with this overhang you choose this orientation > save project
- In your TRNsys studio model you connect tha radiation processor (or calculator) with tye 34, and type 34 with the building.
- In the connection radiation-type 34 you connect the solar zenith angle, solar azimut angle, total horizontal radiation and horizontal beam radiation, and the beam radiation and incidence angle of the orientation the window with the overhang is facing (in this example: south).
- In the connection between type 34 and type 56 you connect the first two and the last outputs of type 34 with the corresponding inputs of type 56 that belong to your newly created orientation (in this example SOUTH_OVERH).
- If I did not foget anything, the simulation should work by now.
I hope this is hepful to you, If you want I can send you an example.
(I don not know much about how to simulate distant objects giving shade)
Regards,
Sabine

HI all,
I have used so far type 56 to describe a building (passive solar)
Next step is to explore strategies to limit solar gains.
There are some tools I found
type 68 shading mask
type 34 overhang and wing wall
I did not find information on how to integrate this to my model
Especially to put in relation a specific overhang to a specific window.
As for sources of shadow due to distant objects and landscape, I assume I
can use Meteonorm to generate a new weather file taking it into account
for the solar radiation on the whole building.
thanks for help
Xavier D.
