Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update, with 56 pages containing:

(1) notice of an emergency funding opportunity announcement from SAMHSA on the availability of $40 million in total for 50 grants addressing suicide prevention, with a due date for applications of May 22;

(2) details on the House of Representatives' HEROES Act, set for a vote in the House tomorrow, which includes $1 billion in emergency funding for mental health block grants--and the likelihood of it passing the Senate in the immediate future;

(3) announcements of 4 new upcoming SAMHSA-sponsored webinars;

(4) solicitation by the Bipartisan Policy Center on its draft white papers on improving services for dual eligibles;

(5) research that suggests that the economic insecurity resulting from COVID-19 social distancing measures is likely to lead to an increased suicide rate;

(6) information on Advancing States' new ConnectToCareJobs.com website for states assisting health care facilities and providers in finding workers, as well as information on Advancing States' annual HCBS Conference, now scheduled for Washington, D.C. in December;

(7) a Crisis Now CrisisTalk blog on psychiatric boarding and New Hampshire's crisis services redesign; and

(8) an unusually large array of Links of Interest that includes websites for training and information on contact tracing and a handful of news articles promoting the permanent adoption of the emergency Medicaid/Medicare COVID-19 telehealth flexibilities.

We hope you find this information useful.
