Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update. It contains:
(1) news of President Trump's executive order directing Federal agencies to review the waivers and flexibilities they've utilized to address the COVID-19 pandemic, with an eye to making them permanent to facilitate economic recovery, and an effort by NASMHPD and the D.C.-based Mental Health Liaison Group coalition of 70+ mental health advocacy organizations to urge CMS to create an interim period after the emergency period ends to collect and weigh outcomes and data from COVID-19-related telehealth flexibilities, in order to provide support for making those telehealth flexibilities permanent;
(2) a compilation of links to state guidance documents on relaxing COVID-19-related restrictions, prepared by the Department of Health and Human Services' Partnership Center;
(3) a summary of a Lancet article championing an interdisciplinary approach to reducing any increased suicide risk associated with the effects of the pandemic;
(4) a Crisis Now CrisisTalks blog on creating a support system for the most marginalized populations in the wake of the pandemic; and
(5) a reminder that the deadline is tomorrow, May 22, for submitting applications for SAMHSA's emergency grants for suicide prevention in the COVID-19 environment.
Have a good holiday weekend. The NASMHPD Weekly Update will be taking next week off, but will return June 5.
Stay Well,
