Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update. Among this week's items of note are:

(1) details of a Johns Hopkins Hospital pediatric emergency room study in Baltimore finding that one-half of children and adolescents with a mental health complaint boarded at the emergency room did not receive a formal psychiatric evaluation or treatment recommendations before they were released;

(2) information on a new Veterans Administration mobile application that tells veterans whether CHAMPVA will pay for their medications, treatment, or durable medical equipment;

(3) the findings of a study finding that youth suicide rates are higher in counties with higher concentrations of individuals in poverty;

(4) a link to this week's Crisis Now CrisisTalk piece in which Regional Vice President of EMPACT Suicide Prevention Center Erica Chestnut-Ramirez on discusses the role of mobile crisis units as the first responders in behavioral health;

(5) a Request for Information from the National Institutes of Health seeking input on the framework for an NIH-wide Strategic Plan for the next five years;

(6) links to the applications for the National Health Services Corps' health professionals loan repayment programs; and

(7) a registration link for the upcoming (March 17 through 19) National Tribal Public Health Summit in Omaha, Nebraska.

We hope this information will prove useful.

Have a wonderful weekend.
