Interesting.
Could you invest a fictitous character with the attributes and energy
needed to become an avatar and ascend? Maybe, if enough people were
invested enough in the character.
I've always wondered how UA would handle the idea of 'corporations-as-people'--immortal sociopaths, sure, but people all the same. Corporations really are perfect for ascension: they've got entire departments working on spreading their ultrasimplistic message as far as possible, and they're not very nuanced, so there's little threat of being exposed with a sordid past that compromises the message. Heck, we called one of our largest "Ma Bell" for the longest time. So the trust-busters were in fact trying to keep these soulless monstrosities from ascending, and every now and then, someone gets through the lines of defense (how else can you spin the fate of Pan Am, which delightfully allows us to bring in Howard Hughes who goes insane trying to kill this behemoth before it ascends?) and the world collectively holds its breath. Did it count? Is it taking the place of a 'real' archetype, or has it been added to a bizarre 'shadow clergy', which is to the
IC what the Occult Underground is to the Real World?

"Mark Crispin Miller, the author of “The Bush Dyslexicon,” once made a striking observation: all of the famous Bush malapropisms — “I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family,” and so on — have involved occasions when Mr. Bush was trying to sound caring and compassionate. By contrast, Mr. Bush is articulate and even grammatical when he talks about punishing people; that’s when he’s speaking from the heart."

Well, it would have to be the person that goes up not just the empty shell. Unless they know something we don't?

Nice, I can only assume the man behind the mask is who BK want's to be
the True King. The question is, will he (or she) become that vacant
smiling ad icon when they ascend, or will they have their own agenda?
I'm thinking food will be very greasy in the next world.
