[UA] Suicide countdown

If it helps, Chris, I'm right there with you on hardened notches.
 
The last time I had someone call me saying they were going to commit
suicide, I hung up on them.  They called back immediately, and angrily
asked why I hung up.
 
I told them I don't help suicides.  To hard to get my guns back, and
they're never clean.  
 
They ended up admitting they just wanted attention... someone to listen
to them whine, instead of doing something to change what they perceived
to be intolerable circumstances.
 
One of the people I knew who did commit suicide (different person from
above) didn't tell anyone before she drank herself to death.  I suspect
that if death, not attention, is the goal then they don't tell anyone.

	It is scary to think people would be like that.  I myself have
my reasons for being kind of heartless in this respect.  I had an
ex-girlfriend play the suicide card to get my attention.  After that
reached a point where I was hardened to such claims.  I had a lot of
time to think about how that made me feel and it just made me angry.

	I'm a good person so I know it was nothing I did.  It scared the
hell out of me at the time.  I found out later she pulled stuff like
that for attention in other situations.  She wasn't depressed and when I
confronted her after the fact she treated me like I had been a fool for
caring.  Complete disregard for the fact that despite us not being a
couple, I truly care for people.  Maybe that's why I don't react to the
word suicide anymore like most people do.

	I guess in this case I earned way to many hardened notches on
