[UA] That Damned Yellow Sign

The Evil Comte approach can work pretty well. Somewhere in some rulebook,
Saint-Germain was said to be the personification of Order in the universe.
The King in Yellow, on the other hand, could be the closest thing to
personified entropy there can ever be... which would explain why people keep
losing their minds when they get too involved, what with any force
attempting to personify chaos being just another form of order.

Of course, Entropomancers walk the fine line between total chaos and the
absolute order of the universe. Maybe people go crazy around the King in
Yellow because they don't have that special something that lets them see
chaos and order as two sides of one coin. Anybody heard of a bodybag getting
his start by reading a certain play?

So I keep thinking about what to do with this yellow
sign business and the meta-gamer, etc., and I came up
with the following--

If I use the Comte as a sort of Reality Cop, with the
idea being that there are multiple universes in
addition to sequential universes, what if The King in
Yellow exists in a parallel universe and is that
universe's version now perverted version of the First
and Last Man?

I was thinking of it this way--What if there is a Bill
Toge-like split on a grand scale, sort of doubling up
everything, and the Comte can't fix it. Not only does
he fail to fix it, his duplicate starts in on the
whole "destroy the universe" thing as mentioned in one
of the UA scenario books, and the Comte has to settle
for locking the other universe away, perhaps greatly
diminished, as he can't get rid of it completely.
Thus, Carcosa is formed.

Then, the bad Comte decides he's going to be First and
Last Man as well as King, and begins to embody the
archetype of the King in Yellow (i.e. a figure of
order who wants to promote chaos and destruction), and
then messes around with reality, occasionally bleeding
over into the real world, etc., etc.

That way, I can have the Yellow Sign be real. I can
set up shadowy agencies and strange battles between
the two Comtes, and generally mess with the players
with stuff that isn't in the UA books.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Jonathan
