Then his first kiss might become his next kiss with
the girl.

Isn't there a loss of Mind when the memories are
sacrificed?

Cheers,

Chris.

There can be a loss of Mind, or an effect on it. Soul and sanity as well.

I think the memory loss comes with a fair bit of confusion. The
Mechanomancer may be unsure about that next kiss: is it his first? His
second? Who was the first one with? While the memory loss may cause
snatches of lost time, a Mechanomancer who gives up a major memory such as a
spouse's very existence isn't going to lose every single moment he or she
was with that spouse. The psyche will attempt to put things back together,
editing out the spouse from those moments where they were together, etc, but
trying to maintain the rest of the memory set. It will do this badly. The
Mechanomancer will have a pretty damn good idea why he or she has a memory
like a leaky boat. And that probably just helps bring the Self checks on
harder.

Now, how does a GM handle a Mechanomancer who "cheats", by keeping extensive
notes, or even tattooing their own body? Are they always unable to process
the information before them. Can they only do it while reading it,
forgetting it the moment their eyes leave the page?
