Perhaps a school of magick where you commit a crime, and then gain
charges every time you nearly get yourself caught.  Which might qualify
as a variant of entropomancy (putting yourself at risk).  It would also
explain the Riddler.

if the Riddler is so smart, why doesn't he just stop leaving riddles
