The game is a great deal of fun, although a heavy combat campaign would
almost inevitably lead to a high rate of character turnover. Which I think is
a more or less accurate representation of what would happen with these
kinds of characters.
The world itself is nicely presented. But I do think the presentation of the
homefront is quite flawed and, dare I say it, poorly researched. There is a
wealth of data which shows how messed up the American homefront was,
how much in flux public morale and morals were, how many strikes
there were, how badly crime increased--in other words, how much of a
dark side (for lack of a less used cliche) there was in the American homefront.
And none of this comes out in Godlike.
Of course, one response to that is that in the world of Godlike this isn't
the case. But the game would have been improved, I think, had this
information been made a part of the game.
That's just my complaint about the game, though, and it's a relatively
minor one. On the whole, the game is excellent, and perhaps the ne
plus ultra of WWII games.
