I'm beginning to think a collection of short stories, an illustration or
two and a con-adventure with pregen characters (street) is optimum. I can
see myself putting that into the hands of a complete newbie. I can even see
myself printing it out (I can do "booklet printing" here at work) and hand
it to nice people at cons and so on. Possibly even bundle it (with
permission) with the sample PDF from second edition.
It just seems like a good idea to put something useful in the hands of the
curious. Boggle his/her mind a bit, get a couple of friends together and
try it out for a spin.
The adventure should be perfectly runnable with between two and five
players, and not neccesarily the pregen ones. (especially if you bundle it
with the PDF)
Something like the trial version of Werewolf, if anyone has seen it.
Also, from experience, working together on something like this sucks.
Everybody heaps on opinions, promises to do stuff and falls through, tells
you what you've done sucks without being constructive about it, disappears
for months and comes back with a mumbled apology about a computer crash...
(no, not you, but everybody else).
So if you (whoever you are, you might even be several) want to do this
thing: just go ahead and do it, don't ask permission, don't debate, just do
it. then, when you're three quarters done and can show some layout, post it
and ask for suggestions and playtesters.
Oh, and remember: Kill your darlings. The one-two-three details you like
the most, delete them. Tynes/Stolze didn't and left us with the perfectly
useless title "Unknown Armies".
