Hell, Banner would probably just lose his ability to transform and be
eternally grateful. "You mean I can get as angry as I want without hulking
out! Thank you, mysterious stranger! Thank you, thank you for bringing me
to this strange, surreal paradise! I'm going to go listen to System of a
Down and then yell at people in traffic. Huzzah!"
Bruce Banner: One of the rare people for whom the UnAverse is an IMPROVEMENT.
There was actually a couple books I read when I was a teenager -- The
Incredible Umbrella and The Amorous Umbrella. They were pretty
lighthearted, but mildly germane to this topic. The premise was, this
ordinary guy finds a magic umbrella that lets him travel to parallel
universes. Since there's an infinite number, he navigates with fiction,
visiting Flatland, the Gilbert and Sullivan universe, the setting of
Frankenstein and so forth. The second book is about his quest for true
love, and in the process he visits the Soap Operaverse. He promptly gets
hit on the head and loses his memory. Plus, about every fifteen minutes he
passes out (during commercial breaks). The final indignity, of course, is
that he's unable to perform sexually, because at the time the book was
written, networks had shame.
