The Fab 5 are an ascension cabal trying to unseat the archetype of the
General (of war), by replacing him with the General (of romance).
 
The paradigm shift that is happening is between the opposites of love/war.
Historically, the Generals, who are set apart from the soldiers and only a
small percentage of the army, try to instill their values of honor and
loyalty upon the soldier to perform a task, face-to-face combat,  which is
nessesary for survival, but distastful.
Now the Generals are the Fab 5, who are gay men, and gays are set apart from
the rest of the population and a small percentage, the values are fashion
and romance instead of honor and loyalty, the task is straight sex and
reproduction instead of combat, both of which are nessesary for survival to
one extent or the other, but one is distastful and the other pleasant.
OR!!!!!

Its a whole "Make Love not War" movement.
One could argue that the masculine values in western culture are based on a pseudo-warrior ethic anyway (real men are tough, brave, and stoic), and the the Fab 5 are trying to unseat the Warrior with the Lover and are doing it by changing masculine values from warrior-biased to lover-biased. The reason that they are gay is to strongly delineate the difference between love and sex for emotional reasons and love and sex for reproductive reasons. And "all is fair in love and war" so the two opposite are on a similar ethical plane.
