Here's an Otherspace idea that I had; needs a lot of work, mind.
It's a hotel. Reasonably posh, or it was until it burned down (under the
requisite Mysterious Circumstances) back in the fifties.
There's a parking lot on the space where it used to be, at least most of the
time. Every year, on the anniversary of the night that it burned down, it
comes back. Its only there for a few hours between 11:26PM and 3:33 AM,
the stretch of time that the building was actually burning.
During this time anyone can enter the building.
Inside its
weird. Sounds and colors are subtly off, and the people that
can be seen standing around and talking will not respond to any visitors.
Their conversations cant *quite* be overheard, no matter how close you get
to them.
Fortunately, theres the bellhop. Normal looking guy, in his late
teens/early twenties, with an unsettling sort of smile. He *will* respond
if approached, and is generally quite accomidating. For the right price
(and exactly what the price would be will vary from person to person) hell
arrange for you to see one of the guests.
Give him his bribe, and hell leave for a few minutes. When he returns,
hell hand you a slip of paper with a room number on it, and give you
directions that will let you find it. And at that, hell send you on your
way
but not without an admonition to ONLY knock on the proper door. He
wont explain this, or stick around to chat any further.
Your knock on the door will be answered by the guest that youve arranged to
see. The guest can be anyone that you know or have met, so long as they
happen to be dead. What you chose to do with your few hours with them is up
to you
but be damned sure that youre out of the building before 3:33.
