Different homeless folk are summoned using different items, based on their personal preferences or history.
 
Ben the Drunk is summoned with the cheapest vodka money can buy but he was a stock broker before he fell off the world and so you can banish him with fresh copies of the Wall Street Journal.  If the Journal is more than a week old it doesn't work.  Ben is often summoned for advice for any kind of numeric knowledge that isn't money related.
 
Sam the Hermaphrodite has been whoring him/herself on the streets since anyone can remember.  Condoms and anti-bacterial cream summon him while items of obvious gender can banish him/her.  His/Her ideas of gender are a mess and so a wrench is masculine and on some days that will work while a book or magazine is feminine to Sam.  
 
Sam is often summoned for consultation about any situation with many shades of gray morality.
