The boozehound and the iconomancer were a cabal of two, and they were
getting just a bit noisy.  So your friendly neighborhood Sleeper-ninja
took it upon herself to break into the icono's apartment one night, when
the drunk was crashed out there and they were both asleep, whack the
boozehound with his own knife and with a nasty-ass serrated machete that
happened to be handy, and give the Elvis-stalker a cliomantic delusion
that "You Did It."

(...not sure if I care for this version.  Introducing a third-party bad
guy makes it all too clear-cut.  Maybe it would be even more UA to just
take the original article at face value.)
