hey guys, Have been enjoying your posts so far, thaught i should supply
some of my own random ideas.
Here is a location that i thaught would be good to share, just a simple
location, but adds a lot of flavour to a meeting place or some such.
With an inconspicuous entrance, just a door really, could just be a house
or something out of the way, off the main drag (but not too far) is the
lounge. It has no real name, it is just convenient to call it that by its
patrons.
Upon entry the players find themselves in a large living room, alcoves, and
divides break up the room into areas where high backed overstuffed chairs,
couches, and other random chairs are grouped round tables. The delicious
smell in the air could only be described as coffee, but not anything like
they have drunk before. There is always at least a few people in here
drinking coffee, and no apparent place to buy coffee.
upon sitting down the apparent owner, and old guy with frizzy white hair,
and a gruff voice appears next to them with a tray of coffee, setting a mug
infront of each person, and charging £5 each (or more if you like) for the
privalidge. There are two things of note:
- each mugh is different, (players will never be served the same mug twice)
and each bears a cryptic clue about him, his obsession, or whatever is most
strongly bearing on his mind. (avatars may get symbology here too).
-The coffee is all different and seems to be the best type of coffee for
that particular person for that particular instance in time.
if they want a seccond mug they only have to think it for the owner to
appear.
Guy - the owner
he is obsessed with coffee, the making of it, and the perfect environment
for drinking it. He is also grumpy and guff nearly all the time, and is of
few words. He does not sell food or do funny coffee drinks ("What do you
think this is? a STARBUCKS?? pah."). this is a place of quiet and the
simple pleasure of enjoying coffee. Any attempt to cause trouble will
result in the offenders being chucked out (probably in some nasty mystic
way) , and probably barred too (magical?).
anyway, just wandered what people think? i've been using it and it has
worked well, as long as the players dont annoy guy (which they learned not
to very quickly! - he threatened to bar them just for mentioning that evil
soul sucking capitalist chain - starbucks).
cheers,
Cam.
